MT AVENGER & MT HIBERNIA, 

Single screw diesel Thames tugs built in the 1960 . Model scale = 3/8" ton1ft. (1 to 32).

Length O.A. = 45" (1140mm,) Beam = 12" (305mm.) Displacement = approx 40.5 lbs.

These sister Thames tugs" Avenger " ( Built 1962 and "Hibernia " (Built 1963) were both constructed by Cochrane of Selby for the Ship Towage group, designed specifically to handle the then larger tankers (up to 20,000 tons) using the terminal at Shell Haven in the Thames estuary. Most significant feature of the two tugs was the large fire-monitor platform high over the wheelhouse. The four monitors are capable of delivering 3,000 gals of foam or water per minute. Design was of traditional Thames style, the last tugs to do so. Her British Polar M49M diesel is rated at 2,250ihp. Thus giving a bollard pull of 20 tons and a top speed of over 11 knots. Both tugs still are in existence, Avenger in Canada ( on the great lakes ) and Hibernia in Greece. This kit is made to order. All boat costs are plus P&P.
